Rip Curl The Search Seven Ghosts

The recent discovery by the Rip Curl search team on their Indonesian Tip to Tip project was interesting to say the least.

In the past I have viewed footage of stationary waves in Munich - Germany and glaciers melting in Switzerland creating small waves. The bore that is ridden in the United Kingdom and the river waves on the Amazon in South America spring to mind.

But the tidal bore in Northern Sumatra of Indonesia displayed some incredible line up peaks with chocolate barrells to match. The Rip Curl search team were able to surf top to bottom which reveals that this is an actual surfable wave when the correct tidal conditions come together throughout the year.

In closing I really enjoyed watching some of the footage which featured Tom Curren surfing
at this location with his timeless classic forehand bottom turns and on rail slashes in the pockets.
