Indonesia Basic Surf Travel Guide part 1
With many airline and accomodation deals being offered to potential customers for travel to Indonesia and a strong Australian dollar. Never has there been a better time to visit the region. This month we have added a few travel snippets about the region for surfers visiting Indonesia for the first time.
Surfboards.
In Australia you can go a whole year riding nothing bigger than a 6.4 but in Indonesia you will be lucky to ride anything smaller than a 6.2. Fact - Indonesian swells are almost always long period swells from half a world away that means that the waves travel quickly. So you will need a longer board that paddles well. So that you can get into the waves earlier. When packing your boards for Indonesia always look at bigger rather than smaller. Drivier rather than skatier and more boards rather than less. Some older surfboards which feels like a dog at home will undergo a miraculous rebirth when surfed in Indonesian juice.
